severe water stress ....

water it deeply ... and add mulch to maintain moisture at root level .... you must insure it goes into dormancy/winter fully hydrated ....

and keep in mind.. its is officially sept... they are all going downhill .... the uglies are coming ... no way around it ... so dont freak out with every little change ...

I was going to say similair to ken……most hostas are starting to look somewhat ratty by Sept. so I would’nt worry. I have a number that are declining now………so do most of the other forum members. It’s just the cycle of the garden.
