Round would look much better with your curving wall - and also allow easier circulation as people move about.

Thank you. That’s where I was leaning but because of the way the pavers are configured, round would be a lot more expensive. We are sticking with the square. Sometimes these decisions get made for you 😅. You can see the proposed outline in this pic.

We have a curved wall very similar to yours and went with a sort-of-matching curvy/round firepit with a wide shelf around it(maybe 12" or so). that is so there's more seating when there's no fire, and also it felt like it kept the kids a bit back from the heat.

All kids properly and vigilantly supervised, in any event, of course.
