September garden blooms

Reblooms keep going in September. Weather has been glorious this week although heat and humidity return next week. Here’s what happening.

Groovin’ is not actually reblooming. This is first bloom on a gift plant that has been in a pot all summer

This is a rebloom on a plant in the back of a bed I cannot get into but such a pretty bloom

Mega Monster

Morning Sky-not reblooming-last bloom on a plant that has been blooming 3 months

one of the Maryotts/not sure which

King Kahuna-first bloom-was on the deer buffet earlier and sent up this rebloom scape

And now the non daylilies!! I love lantana. It blooms all summer until frost. Butterflies and hummingbirds love them, they are inexpensive, and never stop blooming. They come in all colors and sizes. Here are some in my gardens.

Probably my favorite in the fall-huge 6x8 feet of pumpkin colored blooms

Another huge one one-Heavenly Dark Matter at the edge

These are the bubble gum pink blooms on it

Six-foot-tall lantana--that is extraordinary here! They do bloom a long time, but are demons here for deadheading. I'm sure you don't deadhead an 8-foot wide bush. Mega Monster--haven't seen that before. Seven inches! Must be tender in the north.

The second daylily is so pretty, and I'm impressed that Morning Sky has been blooming for three months. The lantanas are all so nice! Are they perennial for you? I used to plant them, but they are just annuals here that reach nearly three feet tall in a season. The butterflies do love them!

Brad-daylilies are sparse with a bloom here and a bloom there but it is nice to see the color this time of year.

Mantis-absabsolutely no deadheading of any of these! They don’t seem to mind. The worst part is cutting all those dead branches off in the spring! Mega Monster was indeed huge on first bloom-this rebloom is smaller.

Debra, I need to wade into that area to see what that plant is. The only marker I can view is Jurassic Park which it is not. Morning Sky is obviously a bud builder but it also is one that only blooms one or two at a time.

The lantana are usually perennial. I have lost some of the newer hybrids over the years probably my fault for not protecting them more during the winter. I will be interested to see how the small red mounding one does as far as survival this winter. It is a new hybrid.

Thanks for showing your lantana! I also wish they were perenials here, I always add a few every spring. You have some lovely rebloomers here, my favorite is Morning Sky, what a great performance this season..
