Fall done right . . . (fall decorating that is)

last modified: 3 years ago

From my instagram account, this morning I followed the link to her blog for her fall decor. I love how she minimally adds fall touches. Of course it doesn't help that the colors in her home are perfect for fall. So many instagrammers/bloggers go overboard with decorating for seasons and I personally am not into all the cutesy little decorations, etc. I love what she has done. I also love the room with the black wall. Check out their master closet too. Funny because her colors are so totally different from what I love for our home, but I think what she has done is very tasteful and beautiful.

ETA: She and her husband have done much of the interior work.

Adding a black cat just for fall decor might be going a bit far, though.

Just kidding! But he certainly does add to the ambience of their lovely home.

@Jilly IIRC, they have two antique pieces on the kitchen counters. One is a bookcase used as a pantry and the piece you mentioned. I believe they store small kitchen appliances there.

Yes bpath! The kitty certainly fits in!! That poor cat seems to be constantly followed by their little girl. LOL

I don't visit their blog often (follow them on instagram), but when I do visit, I always find interesting things. They have flipped several houses.

I really like her style and was surpised to see she is in Tampa. I live in southwest Florida and all that is being shown is the white on white with gray. While a lovely look I am finding it very sterile and industrial.

Yes, thanks for sharing. I also really liked the china cabinet top on the counters in the kitchen and the bathrooms were well done. Plaid tile - who knew?

Pretty and serene. I love that green on the paneled wall, and that black in the bath!

The idea of using (out of favor) china closets or armoires as upper cabinets in a kitchen is very clever.

But judging from this photo, and then way this was installed, it is not quite as easy as it sounds. Still i'd love to steal the idea.

    Very nice.

Burgundy is going to be a "thing" again, isn't it? Remember the burgundies and hunter greens? What goes around ...

Before I clicked on the link I had a gut feeling it would be Jenna Sue's blog. ;) I love her style. Everything she touches is perfection, IMHO.

Very nice. Uncluttered and nice fall touches without going overboard at all.

Very lovely. I expected pumpkins and gourds everywhere, but this is far better. The bedroom and kitchen are my favorite.

Just looked at all her ”fall” blog posts and now I’m motivated to fall-ify my house! She goes a little heavy on the faux greenery/flowers for me, but I am in love with the master bedroom and that bathroom with the black vanity.

I have new pillow covers for fall/winter that I’m excited about, and I just put my fall wreath on the front door. Other than getting some pumpkins for the porch, that’s generally the extent of my fall decorating.

I like the simplicity of it. Her style is really inspiring.

Except for the candles... candles around kids make me nervous.

I think it's impeccably done. The color schemes and empty spaces are very soothing. Thanks so much for sharing that.

I agree - I'm not much into candles myself - especially scented ones.

I like the house very much, but my impression, and I only looked once, was that "fall decorating" consisted of moving around one vase of pink hydrangea and one vase of some burgundy leafy thing, and lighting candles?

I don't see how it is about "fall decorating" but that is fine with me. The only seasonal decorating I do is for the holidays.

To me, the only seasons are "Summer" and "Darn I Wish it Were Summer." Summer decorates itself, and the latter is no reason to celebrate.

I am so sad, I bought that rug in a runner for my back door hallway, same color. The PB one I bought in April looks bad and the pb knotted wool one won't be here for awhile.

That was my point. There is a "nod" to the season, very simple changes. She cut some branches, changed a rug (kitchen or bathroom, I can't remember), etc. That's my kind of seasonal decorating! I change my pillow covers, add some throws, etc. for the cooler time of year. I'll do this again come spring. I do always have something on the front door and a decorative (or the US flag) flag out. For Fall I add a few pumpkins outside and cornstalks, etc. I normally don't do this till October so it can stay up till Thanksgiving. I did buy a new doormat - I'll have to share that. Christmas is the only holiday I really decorate for.

ETA: @mtnrdredux_gw I'm not sure how hard the cabinet and bookcase was to install in the kitchen. I don't remember her mentioning that, but it's been a while since I read her post on the kitchen reveal. I would guess she tells how they did it on her blog.

“"fall decorating" consisted of moving around one vase of pink hydrangea and one vase of some burgundy leafy thing, and lighting candles?”

    .…and the cat. 😊

I know their house and neighborhood. I think I saw a brightly colored tricycle (plastic!) in the yard the other day.

It's inspiring me to putter/arrange around the house, clean up and make my bed.

Anybody know where to find that caramel-colored office chair with the gold/brass colored base? ETA the desk chair in the playroom.

I think it all looks nice, yeah a little sterile, but nice....I don't really decorate for Fall because as soon as Summer is over it's just about time for Halloween. decorating. I still use some of the same decorations I used when my kids were small, before the overdone holiday decorating became such a thing, and especially meaningful now because of my grandchild.

HU, she linked Wayfair — it’s out of stock until November:

    Chair

She said she used Rub n Buff on the base:

    Very elegant!

Lol, Mtn, re: lighting candles and moving the dried branches from room to room. 😂

Also…am I the only one calling bs on the photo of Esme ”spontaneously” taking her first steps??? 😂 The Dad’s reaction looks a bit staged along with the kitchen😂

Oh Jinx, thank you so much for saving me from wasting more time on this search. The reviews indicate it might not be that comfortable for adults to sit in for hours, so that's out. Also, although the idea of rub and buff is really clever, my preference would be to buy something more permanent like brass plating...at of course a higher price. Also, I didn't realize it had that type of caster which has not held up well for me in the past. Anyway, a big thank you and sorry for the hijack!

I really love everything she's done even if some of the choices are not the highest quality. She's also inspired me not just to putter around but to go shopping and I bought a black vase that's matte colored and large at Marshalls today along with a beautiful alpaca green throw and some red Branch leaves which aren't quite as nice as the one she has but will do.

The weather is absolutely gorgeous here right now and all my grass came up within 4 days I put ryegrass out every year and it's magnificent and I'm just loving the beginnings of fall and the chrysanthemums and the cooler weather.

I put the grass out Saturday and took this picture wednesday.
