they are so bulletproof easy ... when dealing with them.. i tell peeps to throw sickly plants on the driveway for a few hours.. to teach them who is in charge.. and then just replant them ...

so i dont know why you have doubts about your potted one .. the only reason to fail would be improper winter storage of the dormant plant ...

in your zone just put them in winter shade... so the pot doesnt heat up and they break dormancy too early .... and tip the pot over after dormancy.. so it doesnt stay too wet ... dormant plants dont need a lot of water .... maybe just put it against the wall of the house on the north side

or.. just leave it laying.. bare root on the driveway all winter.. i i would expect 95% success.. presuming you dont run it over with the car .. lucky you.. you dont have to worry about throwing it around with the snow blower. ..
