Uneven tile in kitchen

We had porcelain tile that looks like wood laid in our entire main level. I love it except that many of them have distinctive grout "lips" which annoy me but the main problem is in my kitchen. The legs of the chairs catch on the grout line raised edges when the chairs are scooted in or out and one heavier set guest tore the legs right off when they caught during a seated scoot! I have to live with the tileset, but how can I solve the catching issue? I tried glides and felt but they catch and tear right off. I tried a thin mat under the table, but it wrinkles and rolls. Anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it???

Its called lippage and if the spots are taller than the thickness or a credit card the installer owes you a redo tile dependent. What type tile is this? What sort of prep was done? How flat is the floor?

Yeah, it was not a great job. Due to Covid issues, our contractor had to sub out some of our reno, the parts of the floor he did are great, but the parts the subs did are awful. We needed to get back into our house, the job was already six months over due because of supply issues and staffing problems, so we went with it. I think the floors were not properly prepared after the old tiles were removed, and I think the guys who did it were inexperienced. Those problems have not eased up where we are located, to have it re done we would have to wait another 6 months for the tile to arrive and have the same crew re do it- so not sure we would be much ahead. Very disappointed.
