pruning is usually driven by date and location ...

i dont understand what you said about berry color ... perhaps being dependent on the pollen donor ... or did i just read that wrong ...

also... if you have pollinators in the common sized back yard... im not sure you need more pollinators in the same yard ...

or if you just want to add more flavor to what you already have ...

Thanks - I’m in zone 7a Northern Virginia/DC area.
Just looking for a non-red berry. I have 6 red sprites next to the bigger Dandy - the smaller Dandy about 4 yrs old that’s now about 25 feet away, may not need him but I thought it would be fun to try to plant a different early blooming female variety next to him. I thought I’d try my luck for advice here before dropping some $ at the nursery.

urchinsushi keep us updated on whatever you decide on. I love berries and finally got a few for my own yard.

In a garden I take care of I have some hollies - Blue Princess (I think) and then deciduous Berry Heavy and a yellow-berried one but can't remember the name of that one off the top of my head. I also planted some viburnums and callicarpa - gotta say I love those purple berries and just bought a callicarpa Pearl Glam for myself.

Also for my own garden I bought a symphocarpus Proud Berry for the pink berries, and added a holly Berry Poppins and a Little Goblin Red. I bought a Mr. Poppins for my winterberries. I focused my limited budget this fall on winter color, so berries, an osmanthus, and some small thujas.

Oh I saw the Pearl Glam at the nursery today and it was stunning, I was tempted to get one - I hope you enjoy it!! I was also looking at viburnums too, I like the summer snowflake - I guess they all need males too for the berries? What kind do you get? The nursery also had the little goblin orange ilex - not orange enough and too similar to the sprites , and the berry heavy gold had zero berries - a bit of a letdown so for now I’ll focus on something else :)

Urchinsushi I don't honestly remember the pollinator I got for my viburnums - I don't remember any of the viburnums I got! I have to find and then look in my records. Sorry!

I did take some photos though of the berries in the garden I care for.

Winter Red ilex

Can't remember which this is - want to say Winter Gold but the berries are yellower and paler. Perhaps Berry Heavy Gold but I'm not sure. Not many berries yet but this shrub has had some repeated abuse - winter storms, yard crew damage etc.

Wow Dee those pics are fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing your garden. I definitely will have to try both viburnums and callicarpas - they are beautiful! End of season nursery sales at the end of the month - very tempting to try some of these. enjoy the berries :)
