I think they’re lovely! I’d make sure the rest of the kitchen is kept very simple since they are so patterned. But they are statement pieces for sure.

I love FB and if you are sure they can work around the stains, I'd go for it. Note, if they have to seam this stone, work closely with the fabricator to ensure the pattern match is acceptable to you.

Have had granite countertops for the last eight years and they have held up relatively well. We have two littles and cook a lot. Just don’t want to see them get stained or etched because we went with a marble type stone. Does sealing them every year prevent this?

Sealing will help with staining for sure, but it won't help with etching. A polished slab will show etching more than a honed one, and yours is so patterned that it's possible that etches won't be very visible unless you're looking at it at a very low angle, with the light shining just right.

It’s is also a leathered finish. I would imagine that would help

Yes that would definitely help.

I have had fantasy brown countertops for over 5 years. Yes, they can etch, no matter how careful you are. Mine is polished, but I made the mistake of having it repolished when I had a major scratch repaired. It was never quite the same. That being said, I still love it, take care of it as best as I can. I use cutting boards and trivets, dawn and microfiber to clean, but I just do simple meals and limited baking. The only time that I can see the etches is when I look at the countertop at an angle and only in certain lights. I really don't know what else I would have chosen that I like as well. My stone had a fissure that was polished nicely upon installation. I have noticed two more fissures, but again lighting and close perusal is the only way it can be seen.
