Oh, hey sorry, I thought i posted in Southern California garden discussion. I'm in approx zone 10A. Hot summers and and warm to coolish winters. Rarely gets below 50 degrees

Moved to this house last year and there are lots of crossed canes and poor central circulation so I want to do a hard prune

If they are Iceberg, I read that one does not enjoy pruning.

I think pruning mid-December would be best. thats about when we do it. If the weather is nice, they leaf out fast. Not much dormancy in So. California.

I cut mine back a couple times a year,no problem,i don't think you can kill these,at least not here in S.Calif.
