Help me pick vanity lights

I purchased 2 of these for our double vanity bathroom makeover. The wall is 72". The mirrors are 24 x 36. There is no room on the sides for sconces and I don't want pendant lights, so over the mirror is what I'm looking for. The edge between the scallops is 17". If i buy 2 three light fixtures that are 21-23" wide will that look silly? Or should I find a 2 light fixture that will be less than 17"?

My first thought when looking at that mirror is to keep the overhead light fixture to no more than the 17" vertical line of the top of the mirror. This keeps the symmetry. There are many beautiful fixtures that could fit nicely above.

yes 2 doubles, or depening on the context a bar of sorts that doesnt hang down at all.

Yes, I definitely want 2 doubles, and I tend to agree that keeping them less than 17" ( the width of the top of the mirror before the scallops), but my husband is insisting they will look 2 puny on a 72" wall, and that 3 lights, (the width of the body of the mirror, 24") would look better. Who's right?

I think a normal 3-light would look fine over these, as the main section is plenty wide.
