Love the floors. Would you consider reupholstering the dining chairs? Otherwise the red drives your color choices. And would you slipcover the sofa? Replace the ottoman?

I'd have a much larger rug for the living room, and no rug in the dining room. In the living area you want that rug under the furniture to define the area, not floating in the middle.

What colors do you love? I think blue could be lovely with the floors. And you could build on the blue/white colors in your plates, lamp and side chair.

I'd also look at changing those dark curtain rods, moving the clock to the kitchen, and moving the mirror someplace else in the room.

Can you post a photo of the rest of the room?

Yes, I would consider reupholstering the chairs. Do you recommend a blue and white print or stripe or a solid blue? I was thinking pleated drapes in the bay window or maybe Roman shades? What color for the walls?
Once I get the dining room underway, I can concentrate on living room.
I have never liked the fabric on that sofa and I worked with an interior decorator with that palette. What do you think would look better?

Bllue and white stripes are classic. I like pinch pleat curtains too. If you mostly have them open, I'd do panels rather than shades.

Try the dining rug in the living room just to see... Love your yellow. Here it is in a dining room with blue toile drapes. Oak table sounds a bit too casual for this look, but you could do buffalo check for a more casual feeling. Below they used fiber roman shades with the checked upholstery.

I love the plates on the wall! Looks awesome! I’d keep those, possibly rearrange and maybe add some larger ones into the mix.

Reupholstering the chairs is a good option. But when you have the table you can experiment with some chairs. Do you have a photo of the table you plan to have?

I ask because I think it would look so pretty where the curtains are. It would block the rod part of it.

I love the idea of wide blue and white stripe fabric for chairs. I also like the light blue and white walls in the second picture, but not sure if I should keep the yellow to match the living room. I was thinking four panels on the bay window. Should I go up to the ceiling or add a valance? Should the drapes be a print or solid in white, pale yellow or blue?

No valence, I think long open drapes are nice and not stuffy. Blue and yellow are nice together if you don't want to paint. But how would you feel about a light blue/green/grey everywhere. It would work with the floors, and your yellow armchair and striped side chair. You could try the dining room rug in the living room, at least temporarily. Do all the trim in white or off white. Recover the chairs in a blue white stripe that works with the walls. I'd take away the plants on the dining room wall. We can think about what, other than the plates, you might do. The chandelier would look nice against blue walls, as would the floor.

With patterned chairs I'd look at off white or white pinch pleat curtains hanging midway from window frame to ceiling to kiss the floor.

Can you recommend a paint color?

I'm a fan of Benjamin Moore Palladian blue, which is really a green/blue. I have it in my bedroom. It looks blue in daylight and green in lamplight. Or their Woodlawn blue which is a little more blue and less green. Or Beacon Grey which is a pale blue grey, and would be nice with your blue and white plates.
