This past spring I installed three mature Madjool date palms. Everything was done exactly the same on all three palms, but one didn't make it (see middle palm in photo) - or at least I didn't think so. I was told to wait until spring to see if it comes back out the top, but in the mean time a shoot from the root has emerged (see second photo of base of middle palm tree).

What are people's thoughts on whether this may come back (at the top) in the spring or not? Many thanks to all for any advice and thoughts. I am in Sacramento, CA and the palms came from the southern CA desert area.
