Yay! We are still waiting for our first rain up here, but the weather has changed finally from hot & dry to chilly & cloudy & windy, so I have hopes -

I am so hoping for rain for California this Fall/Winter. We have gotten .35 inches since October 1 and are grateful. The whole West is in such need. Meanwhile, Northern Italy and our East and South got flooded. This is so unbalanced.

Everything east of "The West" have pretty much been flooded in the past year.

Good to hear you're getting rain, Jeri. Maybe this is the start of better things to come.

Long live the rain! In theory I know that many areas are getting too much, but here it seems impossible for it to be so...

Our County set records for low rainfall. Broke records going back to 1877 . . . And THAT was the middle of a drought that destroyed the Rancho Economy, leaving cattle dead in the fields.

Annnnnd as lovely as yesterday was, it's dry again today, with rising temps predicted, and a chance of dry East Winds by next weekend.

Jeri, I "liked" your post, but just to show solidarity with you, since it's dam' hard to like heat and drought...what am I saying ?????? It's IMPOSSIBLE to like heat and drought!!!

Inland, you get more rain than we do in my odd little coastal valley. I wish I'd gotten so much.

I am always sad to hear of drought in California. Even though I no longer live there, I did spend nearly 20 years in that lovely state and left part of my heart behind when we moved to Arizona almost 3 years ago. Here in Southern Arizona we finally had a real monsoon. I'm not sure of the actual numbers, but I hear that it was the 3rd wettest monsoon on record for Tucson. So I pray that California receives a lovely rainy season this winter as well! I know how much you need it and how horrible the drought is for everyone.

A week ago here in Santa Clarita we had a two-hour storm — thunder, lightning, and… rain! The official record was .7”, but i think we had more than that judging by water in my patio…

all the roses came out to play. I swear I could almost hear them drinking. Lucky you, Jeri .. the rain four days ago missed us.

Yeah Sylvia . . . but it was only .01-in. Great at the time, but not much residual.

The good news is that our sheltering hills keep out a great % of the Santa Ana winds. The BAD news is that they also block rain.
