Please Help Identify

4 years ago

This set was at my grandparents house and we have no idea of value. I think it is Flow Blue but not positive. I am trying to figure out how to ”unload” it. Put it on Craigslist for free? Sell iton eBay? It is not a family heirloom - I believe my grandmother picked it up at a garage sale. Would love any help you may be able to provide. Thanks!

    Pack it up and mail it to me! :) Its blue transferware, I think. (Our home is all blue and white)

    Google "grindley triumph wash basin" or similar.

    You should be able to get info from the registry mark as well. It's pretty and in good shape. No idea if it's valuable these days though!

    Thank you, both. I have been looking at various web sites, and while I can find lots on Grindley, I can't find anything in this particular pattern. I'll keep looking!

    Jean, my whole house is blue and white, too, but I just have nowhere to place this and isn't really my style. It has traveled with me from house to house, since 1986, always sitting in a box in the basement. I might have worked a little harder to find somewhere for it to go if it had meant anything to my grandparents. But before they died, it sat in their own basement for a number of years. ;)

    @Bluebell66 what a pretty set! I wouldn’t donate it without making great effort to determine value because I think it does have more value than you might think. I think some of the value may be in this being a complete set. I looked around on Google & ebay & lots of info, lots out there by this name. I’m not sure your set is ”flow blue” but I’m not sure that matters.

    @Bluebell66 here’s one link I found but didn’t sign in - it’s a good description of pieces

    KW, thanks for the advice and link. I think that's the set! I spent about an hour on that website this afternoon and didn't come across that pic. I will have to create an account to see what I can find out.

    Thanks again!

    P.S. I set up an account to see the price the set sold for. It doesn't say when, but the set sold for $175, and one of the pieces had a chip. My set is flawless, with no chips.

    It was patentened between 1897 and 88....not flow blue but blue transfer ware with gold embellishments.....and very beautiful and in amazing condition!! You should ahve about $250 out of it. Don't donate unless you need a tax deduction!

    I have about 5 pieces, I do not have the pitcher and bowl. There was a lot of fake stamps over the years. Grindley also sold hotel ware ,those pieces were marked with a back stamp like the one you have shown ,crown with words Grindley Hotel Ware, England and might be marked verified? collectors will love it. I love dinnerware from England

    It would be presumptuous for Linda to sell Terri and Bluebell's stuff! :)

    For heaven sake! I didn’t look at that either! Sorry - but, hey, it worked & got Lindac’s attention didn’t it? So, let’s tag @Bluebell66 - are you out there and will you reply to Todd? 😊

    PS - @Todd - I just looked at Bluebell’s profile - click or touch her icon by her name to see it - looks like she has a messge link & you can email her directly! Try that
