30” Gas Range - Wolf VS. Viking

Looking at Natural Gas only models. Wolf has the GR304. But am I missing something with Viking? There seems to be multiple models. If I want to compare apples to apples, which Viking do I compare with the Wolf GR304?

Just my 2 cents. I had a 30 inch Viking dual fuel range that I just got rid of after 8 years. I paid a small fortune for it and spent so much time with the repair man that I think my neighbors thought I was having an affair! The last repair was going to cost $1500 with a 90 day warranty. I decided to cut my losses and just bought an all gas Bertazzoni for half the price of the Viking. Good recommendations from repair guys and my girlfriend has had hers for over 10 years and loves it. So far so good and it is very handsome… I’m a sucker for a good looking range.

Thank you. Viking has a promotion, “buy one, get one”. Makes me wonder about Vikings quality if they need a promotion like that.

I’m 95% sure I’m going with the Wolf.

Funny you went from a Viking to a Bertazonni- I just purchased a 30" AG Bertazonni ( I love it) . After it was installed was told it was not a keeper as the cooling fan blows hot air out the front of the range. Did you adapt to this or was it never an issue?

The Samsung NX60T8711SS ($1800) is a CR-recommended gas range and 94-97% of owners on Home Depot and Best Buy sites recommend it.

Marc, I’ve only had my Bertazoni for a short while. The simmer burner is still too hot for me but way better than the Viking. Also, don’t understand the temperature dial on the front with no numbers, it basically only tells you if it’s on or not and lastly something in the oven makes a loud bang when the oven heats up. I may call service on that issue but overall as long as I don’t need numerous repairs I will be happy with my purchase. And I don’t mind the hot air out of the front of the stove.

Simmer has not been an issue, yet. But, this is my first gas stove, so have nothing to compare it to.

The temperature dial may not be calibrated, but, it is something to work with. I am using a separate in-oven thermometer to get the oven to the temp I want and making a note of the position of the dial.

I get the same "bang". I assume it's the cover plate at the bottom of the oven reacting to the heat. Don't know that it can be serviced. Would love to know what you learn if you follow up on it.

Hope in the long run you're happy with it.

I ended up with the Wolf Gas Range and LOVE it!!!! Simple and Nice.
