Thank you. My kids are older (12 & 13). Yes, it has to be blackout which in curtain form, tend to be very stuffy and thick. You don’t think blinds would be less stuffy?

IMO the drapes are not appropriate for childs room . Do you need blackout for sleeping? I would probably do a black out blinds and then some fun print for curtains that go with the decor . I would not do roman shades since kids will not know how to use them properly . Same for roller shades they will not work properly for kids. Not sure if they are girls or boys or their ages so this is just a couple of ideas The sparkle one is awesome it is blackout with an overlay perfect for a girls room

I have black wood blinds in my kids rooms and guest room (teenagers). We really like the look and they go with everything. I will say they show dust quickly but I don't mind (dust with swiffer biweekly as part of normal cleaning routine). They also made the room hotter so we ended up adding window film which we already had throughout the rest of our home. They ended up liking the window  film blind combo because it gives more options for privacy on our corner lot. We have no curtains but the windows look simple and finished in my opinion.

I think we need a bit more info about the ages and sex of the kids too.

How about bamboo shades? All of these are available with a blackout liner, and there are so many colors. We got some for my son's room and they even have a cordless lift. It would add some texture to the space. I also like what you currently have in that room. Maybe a rug to add some color? Roller shades could also be good and are easy to lift up and down if they're doing that daily.

    Wood blinds

Don’t think blinds would work. The windows are ~118 in by 100 in.

I am changing the rugs in both of their rooms to add color.

What about a black out roller shade for night time privacy and window film for day time privacy. The window film will decrease the natural light but protect furniture, flooring, etc. We have this in our master bedroom, den and office. Has a nice clean look. I like things simple so decided to pick a color to match the walls but you can pick something textured, patterned, solid color, etc.

We did a black shade and then large slated Venetian blinds over that. This was for a co-op apt in NYC.

You can raise the shade and just use the blinds. Shade down for black out.

Ok, shutters would be gorgeous .

I see some people sugguesting window film, but wouldn't the obscure the view? I've considered this for our wall of windows at our second home but wondered about that.

My windows already have tinting. It’s not enough to keep the heat of the sun out, but during the day people can’t see in.

Since window is so wide, consider blinds whatever style but split up in space like three 30” width so they can adjust each separately for natural light they prefer.

Crystal- I should of said window tint not film. I have tinted home windows similar to tinted car windows so there is no obstruction of view.

This is the perfect window for an Ikea roller shade. Outside mount, black out fabric if needed and a fun print for the kids. But get rid of the drapes for sure...

Thank you. Yes drapes are coming out for sure to open the room up.
