See through Fireplace??

I am interested in the material used to create this fireplace concept.. wood burning and see through.. how do you access the inside, meaning how does door open? and do you think this concept would work with one side being interior and other exterior?
Thanks in advance for your insight!!

Nice design! What stacked stone did you use on the wall?

Thank you. The stacked stone is a stone veneer, about 3" thick and mud set. Stone material is from an overseas source that changed mid-build. Perhaps the contractor recalls. Fischer Construction http://www.fischercustomhomes.com/

I just love this look. Could you tell me what stone surrounds the fireplace…is that a limestone?

Thanks. Yes, the smooth stone "insert" surround is limestone. A mixture of slab and tile. The limestone is "Lagos Azul", Honed.

I love the limestone hearth - such a clean look! Can you tell me the approximate thickness of the slab which makes up the hearth? Did it need any structural support other than wood framing?
