I had a sweet potato that began to sprout. I let the sprouts grow for a while, and then followed advice from a website, where i chopped up the potato to separate the sprouts, and planted the sprouted potato chunks in a small pot, to grow a houseplant. The vine is growing nicely, but i noticed yesterday that there are gnats in the soil, likely attracted by the rotting potato chunks. Seems like a bad idea, in hindsight, to plant the potato chunks which would eventually rot. Any advice on where to go from here?
