The veining on th calli is more prominent in reality than in the pic. It's really a nice plant :-)

If I may ask: what do you soak them in - just a water? Is overnight enough? That calii is really nice...gift plant looks bigger than plant you purchased!

Rina, it is bigger than the one I purchased, lol! I soaked them in water (the whole plant, leaves, stems and all) with a little superthrive in it for a couple of hours, then I planted them in net pots in expanded shale (works like leca) and sit them in plastic deli containers with about a half inch of water with some Dynagro KLN in it. Then I put them in my Wardian case so they can enjoy some nice high humidity.

The roots on these plants that come from Thailand have taken quite the beating from the process of bare rooting them to get the phyosanitary certificate and then the journey itself, so I just treat them like I would cuttings. After I get some new root growth, I'll pot them in the mix I like to use for Hoyas.

I soak imports the same way. The entire thing, leaves and all. I use a shallow dish tub, water, and a few drops of Superthrive. A few hours or even overnight.

I don't have Superthrive...it is available on amazon & quite pricey. 1qt is almost $70 - that would buy some hoya or 2...Your Wardian case must be quite full. All my hoyas are still small, bougt them all as small cuttings.

Some people think superthrive is just snake oil anyway. A small container goes a long way, my advice is don't buy a quart! My container of it is 4 fluid ounces, and I've had it a long time.

Whoa, I just checked Amazon and you can get a 2.5 gallon container of superthrive. Who on earth would need that much? That would probably last me two lifetimes. Or more. Wait a minute, you can get a 5 gal one. Yikes. The size I have costs about $11. Don't know if it's really worth it, but I have it so I use it.

Thank you both for comments. I did some checking around, & found 4oz for $14.99...Some stuff is really more $$$ on amazon, some less. I think it is also used for lawns, so maybe that's why such a big containers.
