Thanks Steve Most of my citrus plants that are of good size are having a good bearing year. BUT, I've noticed for many citrus in containers, they begin to bear better in alternate years. So next year, I don't anticipate as good a crop, especially with mandarins. But we'll see.

What does a Clem-Yuzu taste like?

All my Citrus are ripening early. The Lisbon Lemon has very few fruit, but the Mexican Lime fruit are larger, but not many; The Meyer is also way early and has a good crop... again.

My New Zealand lemonade flowers twice in spring. This year my tree set fruit on the first flowering for the first time so my fruit is a month early, It still won't be ready until January or later.

The Clem-Yuzu comes in 2 types ,2-2 and 3-3. The 2-2 ripens in October and 3-3 in December.

Clem-Yuz tastes like a tart mandarin. When dead-ripe, it has a good sweetness to balance out the tart/acid. It is seedy though. I'm debating getting rid of it to have space for something else, but since it (normally) ripens in winter, it's nice to have fresh citrus available then, when most of my satsumas are done.

I could topwork it to Shiranui or Murcott which both bear later.

Dave If you decide to get rid of it let me know so I can plan a vacation around picking it up

Steve, when I say ’get rid of’, I’d probably top-work it to another variety, using it as rootstock.

I'm happy your Clem-Yuz is doing well. Mine in Olympia, WA, zone 8a, ended up declining after a cold winter (never able to leaf out, although it tried), and finally dying after a few more years, although my Yuzu seems to be doing good. It seems obvious to me Clem-Yuz is not as cold tolerant as Yuzu.

Beautiful Clem-Yuz. About how long did it take to start blooming/fruiting from seed?

CalDave, probably about 7 or 8 years to first blooming, but first blooms did not create fruit.
