Quartz Countertop Help

last modified: 5 years ago

Hi,

I absolitely love the look of marble and quartzite countertops, however am drawn to the low maintanence and durability of quartz countertops, having two young kids and wanting my kitchen to stay "nice" for years to come. My problem is that I cannot seem to find a quartz countertop that I like. Everything I see seems to look like contact paper toppers (i.e. details drawn with laser printer) or like corrian (which we currently have). I realize this is personal preference and I am not knocking quartz, but I just cannot seem to find something that I love.

Can anyone please help and point me in the right direction to find a quartz counterop that looks very natural?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Kindly,

N

PS- I am looking at whites/light colors.

Have you checked out Handstone quartz? We have Montauk and it's subtle enough and doesn't look too artificial to me.

Thanks for commenting! I am trying to look it up now but it seems to be sold only in Canada. Is this correct?

@Nikki M no it's definitely sold in the U.S.! It's just a Canadian product. Select Hanstone Quartz from the drop down here: https://hyundailncusa.com/find-a-dealer

We have Caesarstone Noble Gray which to me looks very authentic and which I fell in love with the moment I saw it. It's definitely a gray background with random darker gray veining (just like the Carrara marble I have in my bathroom) so if you are looking for a bright white background and gray veining this would not be for you.

@Nikki M -- I am in the exact same predicament that you are. So far the most realistic I've found have been from Cambria. If you're looking for white with some contrasting veining (which I assume you are, based on your like of marble), check out Bentley (which also has the advantage that it can be bookmatched). I know you are looking for light, but the darker colors from Silestone also seem pretty realistic. Some of the samples I looked at were terrible...they either had that pixelated look that you alluded to, or they were so overly smooth at the edges of the veining that it looked really fake.

I felt exactly the same way and settled on quartzite for our remodel but my first choice of quartz... after visiting too many showrooms to count ... was Hanstone’s Montauk. They actually had it on a large take in their showroom and it’s beautiful. I smiled when the first response from Amy recommended Montauk.

Agree on caesarstone London Grey and noble grey. Ultimately we went with Vadara quartz “Sereno Bianco” which we just had installed and it has exceeded my expectations. I was really torn between natural stone marble and quartz because of our lifestyle. My husband insisted on quartz and I think we made the right decision! I’ll post better pictures another time but here are some for now.

lynne3450 can you post a few more pictures of your countertops? Also considering this color and I have soft white as well as a wood island being installed. Thank you!
