Rug Suggestions

Round or rectangular?
I have two curved conversational couches. I'm looking to put a round coffee table in the center. Should I anchor the space with a large round rug (15 ft) or a rectangular/square rug (at least 12 x 9) ? The space is approximately 16 x 16.
Note: Please excuse the (mess) pics were taking as we were moving in.

I would go with rectangular. With the curved sofas, round coffee table, I think it will be too much. I have a round dinette table, and I prefer how it looks on a square or rectangular rug. Also, a 15' round rug is not a standard size. Your options will be much more limited I would assume pricey.

    Rectangular.

May I ask where you got those sofa's? My mom has been looking for something just like those!

@cynthia.  I bought them on consignment and had them reupholstered.  But Ethan Allen and Baers have curved sofa's.

I agree rectangular. Simple neutral rug. Maybe you’ll like some of these...?

@Jinx, those are some beautiful photos! I love the drama.

@jinx these photos really did help. Rectangle it is. I love those sheer curtains with the blue in that photo as well.

I like those, too. They’re custom … larger photos here:

Rachel, I want to live in that last room. So gorgeous.

I am not a fan of round rugs, so i would go with rectangular or square one.

    I love the curved sofas.👌🏼

I see a glass table and a child in the picture, so if you have children or children visiting, I would recommend using an ottoman style coffee table, instead.

So many styles to choose from. You could also get any round ottoman and cover it in whatever fabric you like. Easy to DIY. There are also ready-made ottoman slipcovers, so you can change up the look when you feel like it using those, as well.

@Jinx, I've been indecisive about reupholstering a Carter sectional vs buying new. The Carter is nice quality and very comfortable for me. But your photos gave me pause, even though a curved sofa would never work in my space. I have a rectangular etched brass coffee table I'll never give up! Dreaming . . .

@freedomplace1 Thanks for the photos.  We had been toying with what type of ottoman/table to place in the middle.  I fo have kids, but I have a separate living space for them upstairs near their rooms that I have to decorate.  My thoughts are that that is where more "industrial child-friendly" products will go, lol.

Here's a pic of one we were looking at because it does tie in with the kitchen table.  If not this then, it'll probably be the upholstered ones.  You shared some really nice ones. I pretty sure I don't have enough space for those grouped ones, but it's definitely a way to get a little bit of both worlds.

@jinx I love that project. All ofnthe rooms are stunning.  I guess I'm trying to get somewhere between the living room and tea room.  I have 3 living spaces; a formal living room, living/family room, and an upstairs living room that will be very casual and suited for the kids.

We might recommend trying a rectangular rug with a round coffee table. Please see our design below for more ideas on decor.

Ether way, make sure it is large and generous enough for them both to sit on entirely with plenty of rug around them. No skimping! Bigger is better.

So I'm definitely going with rectangular and looking for largest that still works within my budget.  I bought a round coffee table.  Finding the perfect rug is hard work lol
