First, I would try to eliminate some doors. Perhaps the kitchen/Diner and the Living Rooms doors could be taken off and cased out. Even enlarge the living room opening.

Secondly, I would get matching rugs as large as the two largest spaces can hold without running into obstacles.

Thirdly, I would add a cozy cushioned bench under the window, and a round hall table and a chair in the stair L.

Of course, with your drawing not to scale, it's hard to tell what to recommend. Plus, you have mentioned nothing about color.

Are they actual doors or door openings? pictures would help, would love to see the built in welcome mat.

They are actual doors. Going to individual rooms.

I need a to scale floor plan all measurements clearly marked and info as to where every door leads Also your main family entry ? BTW that mirror needs to go it reflects nothing worth seeing twice. From what I see you are in need of a caot closet for sure .

Each door in the plan has where it goes and the front door is labelled.

There is under stairs storage - just waiting to add some hooks so we can hang our coats in it rather than leave them on the banister lol.

Yes, measure those two areas that I mentioned earlier. Your space is smaller than I thought.

I also do not think you can add a bench under that window with the wall heater there. Is it not doing it's job to heat? You said the foyer was getting cold.

I would replace the built-in rug with a thicker upgrade. Then lay a rug in the space directly in front of it that pretty much fills that square area. I suspect when heat from the rad rises, it goes directly up that stairwell opening to the other floor. Consider installing a ceiling fan to blow the warm air back down onto the floor. Worked wonderfully for me in an older home with no insulation under the wood floors in New Orleans. Agree, the mirror is cold and boring. Colorful art or a poster would be an improvement there. Is that white cubby shelf by the stairs another built-in item or can it be moved?

I agree that a mirror catches you as you arrive, nah. ;)
