We are in the process of planning our future home build in in British Columbia and looking for some information and advice regarding windows.

We are planning for as much light as we can get on the lake facing side of the home and we're looking for the most cost effective option for our windows while offering reasonable insulation value.

We'd assumed that fixed or picture windows are the most affordable type of window? Is that true, or is there another style that typically beats them out?

That being said, we are considering dual-pane low-e fixed windows for the majority of the windows on the home.

Is there standard sizes that are the most affordable? We want the largest windows we can get, but also wonder if a higher number of smaller windows may actually be less expensive and offer a similar amount of lighting?
