If deer are a problem, that probably rules out Arborvitae like 'Degroot's Spire' or 'Emerald Green'. How about planting a grouping of three very columnar Juniper like 'Woodward', 'Skyrocket' or 'Taylor'?

Major spate of utility pole dilemmas lately. Is that a driveway between the anchor cables?

Does the utility company have an easement that allows the guy wires in what looks like your lawn? Years ago I fought them and they moved a pole from my front yard to the other side of my driveway. I had to sign an easement at that time, but the eyesore was moved into the trees.

look around the neighborhood.. and figure out what works re: deer ... we can name things here if you get decent pix ...

is that your car ... will you actually be using the front door ... there is no path/sidewalk to it .... so im thinking it wasnt used much previously ...

start developing your landscape.. and for now.. ignore the pole ... and as you become less hyper-focused on it.. perhaps ideas will come your way ...

and.. btw .. do you need that front lawn for any other purpose than to dig holes for a garden .... you could probably work some shrubs with larger potential to eventually grow to hide the guy wires ...

you really have no room for anything we call a tree .. though you probably can grow shrubs pruned in tree form ...

i when i first moved into new homes.. there was always something or two.. that where complete nightmares when i moved in.. a year later or so.. not so much.. and 20 years later.. i cant even remember what they were .. lol .. nor do i care any more.. lol ...

Give yourself time. Focus on the blessing of your home; there are so many who don't have one. You will do something that works for you and your landscape over time. Enjoy your home.

Spring Grove arborvitae are deer resistant and easy to grow. They can reach 30 ft. but the leads can be cut off to stop verticle growth. I’d check with the utility company to see how far they need to be from the pole. Good luck.

As the proud owner of an ugly pole in my front yard I can tell you it gets better but is never gone. You get used to it and it becomes a non issue for you.

We planted a garden near ours and are in the process of expanding it and in the spring will be adding a tree or two but really nothing hides the pole!

Your house right now is a blank slate in regards to the landscape. All you have is the pole. Forget the pole is there and go about making a new garden for yourself. A nice garden, not just a landscape, will catch the eye and the pole will fade away.
