I think I need to know the thickness of the counter and are you having a waterfall counter? IMO a nice eased edge is my preference unless it it a waterfall then I like mitered and also the right materila to do the job.

Likely wouldn’t interest me but I would need to know a whole lot more about the kitchen.

Thats cheap on both counters and the mitered edge. I’d be concerned sbout the quality of the fabrication.

I don't think it's worth it. Or you could go with Cambria...they offer 4cm (laminated 2cm) for just a few hundred more than 3cm.

3cm is fine and much less expense and risk.

I have a mitered edge on my island, although it's just laminate. It saved my hips!

What you have is a clipped corner. Mitred edge is a different animal.

We went with a mitered edge on just our island and LOVE it. We have a 12 foot island but it was about $1K to go with the miter on Calacatta Monaco. Our fabricator was fantastic and the veining follows the edge (as it should). Could you get quotes from different fabricators? We just did ours about four months ago and while cost has changed a bit, unless you live in CA or NY, $2400 seems excessive.

@Jennifer Lynn i am doing the mitered edge on the Monaco as well.. How many inches is your edge? it looks great. My fabricator recommend 2.5” and i am worried it will be too thick. he said 2” would barely be a noticable difference.

@Debra we did a 3” edge on the island and nothing on the rest. We’re tall - about 6 feet - but neither us nor the kids (who are shorties) notice a difference in height between the island and surrounding countertops. If you plan the miter before you order cabinets, you can order the cabinets lower so everything is the same, but it really isn’t noticeable the way we did it.
