Miele W1 WWH860 Cycle Times

last modified: 4 years ago

Hi. I created a document containing cycle times for every cycle. There are two tabs; one that has Estimated times, and another that has Detailed times that include wash, rinse, and spin times. I created this because this info is not provided by the manufacturer, and I feel it could be helpful for deciding what cycle to select.

I realize that the majority of people will not be interested in such details...the ones that just select Normal and walk away. But I am posting this for the few of us who crave such details.

Miele W1 WWH860 Cycle Times

Comments:
No part of these results were provided by Miele. This was done by my observation only.

All tests were completed with an empty drum.
Incoming water temperature was room temperature (76*F) for both Hot and Cold Fill AND Cold Fill only.

All temps used were the coldest the cycle allows to give an estimate of the minimum cycle time. Choosing Extra Options, a warmer wash temp, a larger load size, or different water pressure may result in longer Wash/Cycle times. (Wrinkle-Free, Normal, and Dress Shirts are slightly longer when Cold wash temp is selected.)

All times referenced are for the Normal Soil option. Light Soil may result in shorter Wash/Cycle times. Heavy Soil may result in longer Wash/Cycle times.

When using a H+C intake, cycles were shorter than when using Cold Intake only, even when no heating occurred in the cycle. (Verified by PowerMeter)

The machine is a previous model. Still may be available at some dealers. Not sure the new machines have a cold water only option anymore, I believe they do not.

Steve, it must have taken you many hours and wash cycles to collect and validate the data. Thank you for sharing this treasure trove with all of us.

Hey, I see that according to the manual, the new WXR860 that replaces the WWH860 can be operated Cold fill only also.

I just ordered the WXR860 and this is very helpful so thank you!

When a drain and spin is only one minute is it safe to assume it only drains and then refills without conducting an interim spin?

    Yep-Drain only.

I’d love to see if your cycle times are similar with your WXR as my WWH. Yours uses PowerWash on many cycles. Mine only when I select a Cold Wash Temp.

    All of them! Just kidding.

How about each temp for Normal?

I'll see what I can do. I've only run the normal cycle once but thought it did pretty well.

Just the estimated times is good.

Well done! I have a WXI 860 WCS. Given the washer fills differently depending on how much water is initially absorbed by the current load - how much in your experience does that affect your recorded times without laundry?

Thanks. The Detailed chart has the Estimated Time and the Actual Time. The actual time was usually less. After three minutes in, the cycle time usually reduces. Unless I wash towels, or fill the machine, the time usually reduces.

Estimated times on my WXR860 normal cycle:

    Cold 1:29h

    85F 1:42h

    105F 1:42h

    120F 1:42h

    140F 1:45h

    @littlegreeny

Can i trouble you to give the default times (at default temps) for Normal, WF, Baby, Extra White, and Sanitize? I am curious if they differ from the WWH860.

    Thanks!

And does the PowerWash cut some time off?

The times are estimates. They estimated times should be in the manual as well. If you have hot fill the time will be reduced as well.

Thanks but if they were in the manual i would not be asking @littlegreeny

and am curious about the WXR 860

    Hi @Stephen,

Sorry for the delayed response as I was out of town. Here you go:

    Normal: 105F 1:42h

    WF: 105F 1:33h

    Baby: 140F 2:12h

    Extra White: 140F 2:07h

    Sanitize: 170F 2:43h

These times include PowerWash which is an automatic feature that cannot be selected or turned off unlike LG's TurboWash option. Actual cycle times are always less with the auto load control.

Awesome. Thanks so much for this.

How dare you go out of town! lol

According to the manual PowerWash will be disabled when you select Pre-Wash or Extra Rinse.

I wonder if adding Soak or choosing Extra Gentle would also disable it?
