Your room is heavy looking due to dark wood furniture (which does look high quality), so you'll want to balance that out with a lighter palette for your bedcovers and curtains. I'll assume the plastic chairs aren't staying :)

--Based on what you're showing, the main suggestion is to get ceiling to floor sheer white/ivory curtains that wrap around to the right hand window. (The left window treatment of the 2nd photo below shows this--rod wraps around.) and attractive shades for privacy. (More afforably, you could also get sheer floor-to-ceiling curtains in a very light beige white pattern and plain white shades as in 1st photo below)

Then get the same white curtain for left window. Replace bedside lamps with more modern ones.
