About 8 or 9 years ago I walked into HomeGoods late at night near their closing time. Directly in front of me was the perfect picture. It did not appear to be their standard mass market picture, but very nicely framed. But because it was about $400 and I thought that was too much for HomeGoods, I decided to think on it. I called the next morning right after they opened to ask them to place a hold on it and I would be right down. Sorry, it's sold. I still remember that picture all of these years later.

Two things:

Both just $100 but undecided to not buy.

In Italy, a tiny tatted butterfly.

At a museum, a tiny exact of a plastic cafeteria chair.

I also still think about a small painting I saw in Mexico, but didn't buy.

Ah, the one that got away. At our dump "Swap shop" someone had left a barrel chair upholstered in cow hide. I was in a rush and hesitated. When I went back later, it was, of course gone. Not that it would have fit my decor, but still.

DH is flying to SFO tomorrow. Today he was checking all his change options. Came downstairs to ask if I could drive him to the airport later today for a flight on a 777, with the layback seats, through, I think SLC (he loves connections). Went back upstairs, and the seat was already gone.

I still recall with great regret a vintage solid aluminum office chair that only needed new upholstery. I got it for less than $10 and hubby got rid of it while I was away on vacation. That was over 10 years ago.

I managed to grab a single Trent portrait tile from an intact set of vestibule tiles being torn out of a house while I was running between jobs. There were several more but they were stuck to a largish piece of wall. I called someone to run there and rescue more but they were already gone within a few minutes. I should have been late for work instead.

Really, can honestly say I have never let anything I could afford get away- especially art. My mother trained me from when I was you to keep an eagle-eye out for good pictures. There are advantages to being impulsvie.

This. i have been lookimg for a good quality secretary desk to replace a crummy one that i’ve had for years. A high end used furniture store posted this. I check their Insta several times a day, but dontcha know, I missed this by moments.

Recently there was a cabinet/hutch on craigslist, somewhat more feminine in styling, white with the back painted a lovely yellow. It was described as a Swedish style, something rarely seen in these parts. I really, really wanted it. I could easily envision it in the room that I hope to make my personal retreat once my daughter moves it. It was even pictured against a teal that is similar to the one I envision for that room. I refrained from purchasing it because there is no definite timeline of when she will move out and it would add to the clutter of the house right now, which is something that has been bothering me of late. Part of me thinks it would have been worth it and part of me thinks letting it go was the decision I needed to make right now.
