I like the round penny tiles, too. It does require a lot of grout. And, it is very hard to install properly and very easy to get wrong. If you have a great installer, maybe. Otherwise, a larger tile would be the answer.

lots of people use that for a backsplash. it is a lot of grout to keep clean, so you might want to choose a medium grey grout -- too white or too dark shows stuff more. and consider some kind of panel for the stove that protects from the mess:

like homechef says-- be extremely careful when choosing who installs it. it's really common to accidentally get visible lines between the sheets. it tends to not be noticeable until after the grout goes in, so by then it's a huge pain to rip out and fix.

I just had penny installed in my son's shower. The tile pro did excellent job, you cannot tell where 1 sheet ends. I asked him to use epoxy grout that doesn't need sealing. The look is fantastic!

Not pennies but a mini varied hex. Three years on it is still perfect (I have cocktails here once a month) Pennies have their own install issues but any qualified tile installer should not have a problem.
