No but I can see the need for a slower growing 'Ogon'! Although, as it happens, I'm glad mine grew as fast as it did.

havent seen it ... but i remember seeing that boy toddling about the yard .. apparently he is growing faster than your meta's ... lol ... the box is ALWAYS the best part ...

anyway ... the further you get from plain old green.. theoretically .. the lessor the vigor ... ergo.. the lesser the annual growth rate ... so i would presume yellow would be lesser.. as would anything that had significant white in the leaf tissue... etc ...

but.. that said ... if momma grows say.. 3 feet per year ... and something with lesser vigor.. lesser chlorophyll .... grows slower ... it might only grow 2,5 feet per year ... eh??? ... it may or may not be significantly less.. is my point ... and with deciduous conifers.. i would think growing season would affect annual growth.. of the roots for sure ... [thinking about my ground freeze here...]

when you buy small yellow plants ... its hard to not think they are sickly.. and with trees and conifers.. for many years .. until they finally fill out enough to look healthy ... or at least until you know it has vigor.. regardless of its appearance ... see what i mean at the link ...

I am pretty used to "full sun" Acer palmatums not really being full sun tolerant here. I have some pent up frustration with professionals and sun ratingif it doesnt show.

Oddly enough Ogon has performed excellently for me so I will assume this one will also.

Is Boise, ID considered the PNW? I'm talking about OR, WA, where yellow evergreens tend to burn.
