Need help with exterior materials

last modified: 4 years ago

My wife and I have built an addition onto our home and are in a dilemma due to our inability match our existing brick. We have mixed up the design a bit. The existing house has a brick wainscot around the entire house. Tanish Stucco on the front entrance, and the vinyl siding in desert sand color (also tanish) on the other three sides. I've attached a pic of the current house with the addition shell and a drawing of how we mixed things up a bit - we are thinking of doing vinyl board and batten instead of hardi. A couple of dilemmas:

1. Do we have too many exterior materials/syles?

2. We would like to have some subtle contrast with the board and batten section but the soffit will be desert sand, so it will have to be a bit subtle. I've attached a pic of the swatch we had thought through for the B&B up against our current soffit and the stucco

3. Any other general comments or concerns that we should

evaluate?
