Drainage pipe spec for backyard

Hi folks:

We are changing our backyard to help with drainage. Our contractor needs us to give them the spec, as there are city inspector involved, so they want to spec to be from us and approved by both city inspector. Basically we need to replace 1' of soil with gravel, and install artificial lawns. We are in Seattle area and rains a lot.

We just sketch out the pipe layout in the yard. Have a question regarding drainage pipes. We plan to burry it 6" below grade. We run into city inspector before, and remember that he wanted us to have PVC pipelines. I wonder if they are referring to this type?

I think there is a confusion with the different types of sewers. This is why I never use the word "sewer" to describe someone who sews.

Hey Mikey, your link for pipe is fine. As long as you avoid corrugated pipe like the plague. Not much info given, but if all your collected water goes to a perforated catch basin with no other outlet to discharge the water, in Seattle that will soon overflow. Water can only exit when the ground around it is not saturated, and it's a good assumption that in your climate when water needs to be collected the ground is saturated. Also, not sure why you have to go to artificial grass to help drainage. And 6" is too shallow for a french drain, and I would want the parallel french drain at the bottom of the hill.
