Which lamp do you like better?

Hi all - trying to choose lamps for our sofa table behind our couch / against the wall. On the left is a glass gourd style lamp and on the right is a cream ceramic style lamp. The walls are agreeable gray.

For context, the picture is just a placeholder and will be eventually replaced (with something of similar size or a few inches smaller - and the art on that wall will be hung, not just proposed against the wall). The kitchen which is across from the living room has espresso colored cabinets with a cream colored island, and I have natural colored chairs at the island. I’m trying to mix different colors of wood—don’t want all light or all dark. So the living room coffee table is also espresso (as is the fireplace mantle piece) but the sofa table is a natural color wood with a slight whitewash. (I may either stain the sofa table a darker color and/or replace the coffee table with something lighter—but that’s a different topic!)

So, which lamp do you like better? Thank you!

right (cream)
left (glass)

Not a pro but i think narrower shades would look better.

    Thanks for the feedback :)

Does this help at all? I'm not crazy about either lamp.

Hmmm… What about this one? It’s a fuller/wider base and very similar to a MUCH more expensive pottery barn lamp I had been eyeing…

Clear lamp otherwise too much to look at let the painting/picture and pics on the table get the spotlight!!! By the way hang your big picture up on the wall. Too busy with it in the table

Thank you! I did plan on hanging something but I’ll be replacing the current art so I’m waiting until I get the new wall art before hanging.

Looking at possibly this set in rustic frames to go there…

I would only use one lamp on that table. Give the art some breathing room.

Hmm nice idea. Which side would you put the lamp on and what would you put on the other side? These are the only lights in this room aside from the ceiling light at the very top of very tall fireplace lol.

I would do one big picture. It would be too broken up with all the little frames in the table below. One big photo could be unifying piece. Just my opinion

Found another option for the art piece…

Love the birch trees. This comes as a single canvas or a three picture canvas set.

And going back to my question about where to put the lamp if I only have one on the table…I would prefer to have the lamp on the left as it’s easier to get to, but my first thought would be to put a plant on the other side - and since the large floor plant is already on that side, I’m not sure that would look very balanced. What do you guys think?

Picked up a different white lamp to try out here today! It’s a little more solid than the other white one. Here it is next to the original glass one. Thoughts?

Ch47gunnergirl good eye. I agree and she should put it where the white lamp is since already has a plant on that side.

Take the sofa table away put the floor lamp in the corner behind the sofa and a nice end table and lamp where you have the tree which looks fake so no loss there . Then hang your art aove the family pics to another spot.

Thanks for the feedback. I don’t want to try to match a lamp to the current wall art because I’d like to replace that with something that has a little more color - muted blues/greens to tie in with the colors in the rug, pillows, etc.

We definitely need at least two lamps in this room, maybe three. I had considered a floor lamp to go over by the arm chair which is just outside the frame in the images I shared.

For the plant - it’s actually very pretty and realistic in person, and I definitely want to use a plant in this room. That corner is really the only place to put one. I’d rather not have a table over there as there are floor to ceiling windows and they would be completely blocked off by furniture. A plant on the other hand still allows us to see in/out.

I don’t know that a floor lamp at the corner of the sectional would work because that area opens up to the hall leading to the front entry so it would kind of be in the way. But I guess I could try it out.

If it helps, here are photos from the listing of the home we just sold so you can get a feel for the colors/style I like.

    Thanks!!

The second lamp, placed on the left for easier access. I like the birch trees painting in a single canvas hung on the wall above the console.

I think your decorating style is neutral colors with textures and patterns to add interest. I like that style very much as well..

Wood rose- thank you very much! Which lamp? The white or glass?

Also, if I just do one lamp, what should I put on the other side of the console table to balance it? And what other elements should I include on that table? Open to suggestions! My go-to is plants or stems in a vase but I have the large tree in the corner already.
