I'd try an acetone poultice. Google around please. It may not be fixable.

Was the stain there upon installation? If so, I'd talk with the company responsible. Was it sealed? Appears to be next to the cooktop. Epoxy fill responding poorly to heat? Oil? Just throwing spaghetti here. I always hope JC answers my quartzite questions, and he already did here (one coming today about a botched install!). Good luck!

common problem with this type of quartzite.…ask me how i know. is it also around the edges of your sinks? notice its also on the front edge of your stone. you cant stop the progression. mine looks awful. most speculate it has to do with the glue used in fabrication.

No it didnt stain around the sink… yet :(!

There are lots of posts on here with people that had the same issue with this type of quartzite. Not only around the stove but the edges of the countertop and around the sink. Some were able to remove the staining and reseal only to have it come back.

I have not had my stone people out yet to look at this mess. between covid and having my mom here on hospice , i have no other excuse. so ive waited so long, im doubtful they will do anything. i will pr probably have to replace it on my dime. so irritating. i hope you get a favorable resolution but ……

look at sink perimeter and edge of island mitered edge. Looks nasty.

@ILoveRed oh so sorry about your mom. I’m still waiting for my contractor to get back to me with a response. He is the one who recommended the fabricator people to me. let me know what your stone people say when you reach out to them.

You have classic silicone bleed. Cut the sink out and install a larger one, installed with a non-bleeding gasket. Expensive but permanently fixable.

Its everywhere joe. not just this sink….every edge of the stone and also around the apron front sink (kohler) and on the sides of my rangetop. Sigh.

seems to be bulletproof otherwise, lol lol. no staining or etching on the surface of the stone. so ironic.

Is silicone bleed a common thing with Mont Blanc or just with any light colored quartzite? I was interested in this stone for my kitchen.

Nancy: Your best bet is a reputable fabricator and a sample test for bleeding. Some silicones don't bleed.

No industry standards or rules for stone and the naming process. Any stone yard can call a stone anything they want. They could take what is commonly known as Mont Blanc and call it Gorge and they will have done nothing wrong. ALWAYS do your own tests.

Nancy, I have Monte Blanc in my kitchen and master bathroom. After a year and a half, have had zero issues with any staining at all.
