Our great room is living/kitchen/dining in one large vaulted room - we have natural light coming from both sides (east/west exposure), plus four sklights. We have a wooden ceiling (which I'm not a fan of but am loathe to consider painting) and light wood floors/cabinets throughout (also not a huge fan, but again, not interested in painting the wood).

We are considering making the end wall more of a feature with a darker color - I'm leaning towards a dark steel blue/gray, but wondering what others think? We have a rug in the LR that you can barely see in this photo that has a lot of dark blues/golds/brown. (and yes, the previous painters did a very poor job with only one coat that has become apparent the last year or so!) We'd probably go a lighter tone on the other walls in the same family of what we do with this wall (unless someone thinks otherwise!)
