So, the range hood came unpainted. Our builder had it professionally painted, and it looked so PERFECT! They cut the chimney to size and installed it…only to discover IT WAS PAINTED THE WRONG COLOR!! It is white-white and cabinets are an off-white vanilla. They say the can and will repaint it. My concern is that the results are going to be less than acceptable.

I’m wondering:

1. Will the new paint adhere without sanding? There’s a poly coat of some kind.
2. Is sanding going to make the end result look scrappy & uneven?
3. Can it be effectively sanded with all of the intricate trim work?

Any professional thoughts are appreciated!
