So rare to find bedrooms on Houzz with books by the bed. Yes! And I love not one but two digital clock radios. (Sadly gave mine away last year when we downsized and needed a smaller bedside set up.)

I would not paint the space unless the paint is in poor condition. The green wall is all the pop you need and paiting the trim and doors another color is going to add too many pops to the room. If you do need to paint, then make the ceilings, walls, doors and trim all the same color. I agree you could go warmer with the color.

I like the matchstick blinds idea. I'd add reading wall sconces instead of your bedside table lamps.

Your plant table and the pics behind it are perfect. And yet, I would love to see an antique mirror on that wall instead of the three pics. I don't get the mirror on the floor in the corner.

Your curtains seem gauzey and I don't get them in the space, but it might just not be translating well on the screen.

The only thing I see that doesn't work for me is the art over the bed. It seems too small and the colors aren't right for the room. Although I'm not entirely sure about the curtains, either, as the previous poster said. Everything else is great! I wouldn't do any of the painting you're thinking about. You might have room for a console table or shallow dresser on the wall at the foot of the bed, but if you don't need it don't get it.

I would paint all four walls the same color as your accent wall. It's such a great color. Why not? It would make most of your art pop! and it would look like a cozy retreat.

Such a cozy room! Agreed that the artwork above the bed is an outlier - if you love it, place it closer to the headboard (try about 5" above) to make it relate to the bed more. Would also stack the three white pics. Not sure about the wood blinds - would prefer patterned curtains in a textured (not shiny!) fabric.

Thanks @Sammie J! I do really like it (and honestly one of the rare pieces my husband and I picked out together). Will consider hanging it lower--and easy and doable suggestion! Same with the picture stacking @Jeanne Cardwell and wall sconces.

@njmomma I agree it feels unfinished but never could put my finger on why. Had not considered painting the entire room with the green smoke color--Will think about that! I do love love love a dark moody bedroom. This is our only white room in the house so was kind of liking that aspect of it....but it does need something else.

@kandrewspa, @Kendrah those curtains were hold overs from our last home. Maybe I swap them out with a heavier simple white curtain? I'll have to do only one to the left of the bed because of the radiator but can do two on the other window.

Can you flip the bed to the opposite wall? It might give you extra room for night stands. You can install hardware to stop the entry door from hitting furniture.

I love your bedspread. The long pillow, which seems to be native American in design is also an interesting piece.

I like café curtains on bedroom windows for privacy while letting light in. They are a lighter cotton fabric. I have plain good quality roller shades with the café curtains in all of my bedrooms.

Very nice room but here’s my thought, if you paint all of your walls the smoke green colors your plants with visually disappear.

Except for your third point, I wouldn’t do any of the changes you mentioned. Instead I’d aim for a room that had better coordination and was calmer.

Have you tried placing all your plants on the radiator cover and a bamboo or rattan blind would be a great choice for room.

Move mirror to where table was and add a chair in corner by window; both would be quite practical.

Suggest larger lamps for visual impact as well as for better lighting and if possible, a lighter/different color scheme for your bedding to help pull the room together. A bit of tweeking is all that's needed.

thanks @Maureen. We usually move our plants to the radiators after the heat is off but they dry them out way too much to move them there in the winter months. Unfortunately there is no room for a chair anywhere in the room--it is quite small and I am already navigating a small pathway bw the window and the bed which is why the narrow plant works well there (and also gets a ton of light). @houssaon That is an interesting thought to move the bed. Our window is totally off center from that wall so we thought it would be weird to have the bed against it (also bc its a small window and I believe the head board would come up higher than the frame, lookiing bit strange). i'll mull it over though!

I am definitely planning to remove the mirror completely from the room.

Thanks too @Everything Home I am going to go ahead with some type of sconces instead of the lights we have (but need to wait until xmas expenses have past lol). I am thinking something gold or brass will look nice against the green wall. We love the fan and use it much of the year so not willing to lose that.

I'm a fan of dark, moody bedrooms. Here's mine:

I think you need to paint all walls in the green smoke and get some heavier draperies to get that cozy, calm, intimate space out of your head and into the room. I see five different fabric prints in the room. I think you need to narrow it down to the rug, the throw on the bottom of the bed and your coverlet. The curtains, tribal print pillow and gray striped pillows should be removed. If you hang drapes correctly, some of your wall space will change, so the art will need to be rethought.

Personally, I would put the Japanese piece above the bed, and I would tend to carry that Asian theme throughout. the piece over the bed now is a bit too tribal, IMO. Perhaps it could hang in the hall outside the bedroom with an art light. Here is a bedroom I love, and I think you could adapt this concept to your space. Picture your Asian print where the animal is on their wall. Build the shelves and load them with books and Asian pieces like the urn on the right. Use your table where they have the larger one on the left. Here they've used cafe curtains as houssaon suggested. If you think the door swing would crowd the bed, reverse it.

@decoenthusiaste your bedroom looks dreamy......I am still considering painting the whole thing green smoke. I am thinking though that the trim needs to be a different color--maybe a softer white or neutral or something bc it's pretty stark which i think would not help with the moody feel. Any suggestions there? I'd rather not paint the trim and all the doors green smoke as well because in the next room (which is a small bedroom we've made into a walk in closet with built-ins, I've painted the walls a similar green as well as the molding, trim etc so don't want it to be the same.)

@loobab thanks for the idea; the mirror is too large and won't fit bw the corner of the wall and the window frame. i think i am going to sell it. I am definitely going to change the curtains and will hang them taller and wider which will mean it will end up kind of where the mirror is now.

Paint the walls first and then decide about the trim.
