It makes lovely blooms, but it wasn't happy here.

It's reported to be a martyr to mildew and rust, but fortunately those aren't problems for me here. I got it in spring from Palatine, and it bloomed pretty much continuously all year. Never covered in flowers, but always a few here and there. If I were more generous and consistent with feeding, I think it would bloom even more.

I've never grown Nahema but, based on pictures at HMF, they are similar.

Chaucer is one of the earlier Austins (1970), mostly hybrid Gallica in makeup (Duchesse de Montebello is a parent, and Belle Isis a grandparent). So it has kind of surprised me how willing it is to bloom all the time, even in the worst heat of summer.
