@christopher yes I am in northern Georgia. Do they only grow in the south?

They are pretty much a southern like it hot to zone 8 kind of lily that is not fond of cold and freezing. I have one that is still alive and never blooms. It came from some I found in the valley of Waynesville, NC that do bloom. So it is possible in north Ga. with the right one.

and just to be thorough .. the 2 tone behind it is a day lily ...

not quite sure on the third back there ... due to lack of focus ...

'i was going to say this was a day lily.. but the drooping future buds make that all wrong ... not to mention the leaves.. the form.. and just about everything else about it.. lol .. just saying.. how did it end up in the middle of a huge DL bed .... but apparently i digress .. do you think.... lol ...

I'm not sure about the Crinum ID.

To me it looks much more like an Hippeastrum.

Depending on where in northern Georgia you are, they could be hardy, zones 8-11.

@ Ken I have a huge daylilly garden and this one plant is on the corner of this garden. This was gave to me and planted it here in this spot and it thrives here. Ive been meaning to get an ID but always forgot. . Its been in this spot about 10 yrs now.. I am diggiing some up and replanting in other areas of my yard, Heres what it looks like after didgging some up around the edges

They are Crinums not Hippeastrum. Then again, the botanists may have been rearranging things again. Google Jenks Farmer and his crinum lily farm in SC. Maybe you can find the specific name there.

You should be able to grow Hippeastrun x johnsonii too. It is a red amaryllis. I have some that keep coming back but never bloom. Also found blooming down in the valley in Waynesville, NC.

Agreed. They can't be Hippeastrum. The bulb is wrong.
