A large palm like plant to replace the table would give a relaxed feel to go with the beautiful chair......

They are both nice - on their own - but their styles are different and although they play nicely together, they are not best friends. I would suggest changing one or the other. If not, then try to accessorize the table to go with the more formal and ornate chair.

HI -- Actually I think the table is too big with the chair. I think both are nice but not quite right with each other. Can you maybe find a smaller accent table for beside the chair ? Or maybe just have a bench there or just the table . And , yes maybe a potted palm plant would look nice and add some life . I think I would just have a small console table with a pouf under and a mirror or a painting over and a bowl of orchids and maybe an accent lamp. I think you may have to play around with this area until it looks right to you and fits your needs . Your house looks beautiful .

If a compromise is in order, try treating the table as a console and place it behind the chair, with both pieces still against the wall and the chair still facing forward.

The chair is too little next to the table. Remove the chair, place a tall vase with twigs or a tall arrangement on the table. It will look great alone in that space.

They both take away from the architecture of the stairs. I would put something more minimal there. They kind of look awkward.

Agree, they don't work together. Try chair in front. Smaller table dressed with accessories behind. Add a plant to soften it up - smallish beside chair on floor or on table.

Further to my previous comments, something along these lines :

i think the issue here is not the chair or the table, or if they fit together, but the fact that the two of them are too much for this particular space, it's just crowded. I think if you just leave one or the other than the space would work.

The scale is wrong--either use something taller that goes UP with the height of the staircase--like a hall tree that would balance the wall...or a grouping of a console table and either mirror or art...
If you keep the chair, you should use a smaller table with it but personally I think one chair in that space is wrong message...

And the table is too large to use against the wall...
IF your entry/foyer is large enough you might consider placing the table in the middle as focal point with some photographs or flower arrangement on it...
I have seen that done very successfully in some "show" homes I have toured...but the entry needs to be large enough to walk around on both sides...
and you don't show more photos to see the entire space...

Given the curve of the wall...a nice floor lamp would be pretty with a photo gallery next to it.

@Brendakusan...the pic you posted with the chair table and lamp is the look I was going for. Unfortunately the pieces I have just don't work. I'm going to play around. Trying the table in the middle. What do you all think?
I don't have a plant large enough to try next to the chair so I moved it out of the way. If the table stays in the middle then I will get a large vase and put olive branches or flowers on the table. Something with height.

I prefer the dog to the table in that location :)

I don't think centering it is working. It "looks" blocked off. The chair was too low for the table. Of the two, I prefer the table, in the original location, to the chair, and by all means, then add a vase with some tall flora. And pet the dog. :-)

if you decide to put the table in the centre of the entry way a square rug would be nice as seen in the inspiration pic

not sure what other items you have when you enter your front foyer, however, I think either a padded bench would look nice or if you have an outlet on that wall perhaps a sofa table with a lamp at one end and then perhaps something below it or three small prints above it

I love the table in the middle! The foyer is very grand...meant to be treated like a 'room'...this centers it as a focal point. and the stairs wrap around it! perfectly! Love to see it with a floral display!..

Go for it! But as Arlene Warda said, make it grand! Bring out a tall spray of vegetation and a substantial vessel to hold it. The table is wide, use it to advantage.

Something to this scale, use your imagination - sticks, flowers, greenery (evergreen boughs in winter smell spectacular).

Add a it palm in a ceramic pot. Add area rug in your colors, round. It's a entry don't try so hard. Less is better

I wish I could make a comment to each of you. I like all of the ideas. I initially wanted an antique round table, but my husband liked this one better. It's made of reclaimed wood. I should also mention that I ordered from a furn store so I didn't see the table in person.

I am a fan of the round table in foyer look like how it is in a grand hotel. However I wonder if the space is large enough. What are the dimensions of the space and table? Examples I have seen tend to be larger in scale both in terms of the foyer space and size of table for the grand effect.

@shannajensen, that is the look I was going for. Unfortunately, I ordered the pieces through a furn store in Chicago (where we lived prior to here) and they turned out being a lot bigger than I thought. I think what I am going to do if get some smaller pieces like in the pic! Thanks for both of your suggestions

I think the table is too large for the chair. I would use the table alone with a plant or something round on the table.
