With two different wood finishes already, I would do a painted island with a different countertop. Trying to match will be too hard. Unless you refinish all cabinets at the same time, it won’t look right. A bold color like SW Maritime is stunning (check out Lowes Diamond line for colors) or go with a warm grey to compliment your existing granite and either do a soft white quartz, black soapstone, or even butcher block on the island top. If you use a bold color, you can tie it into the older part by adding it somehow in a new backsplash or other application.

Thanks! The base and wall cabinets are actually the same they just look like different colors in the photo. I was actually leaning toward warm grey with white counters for the island. Thanks for your input.
