New Year’s resolutions

For the past few days, I have been re-reading old posts here and enjoying the ’remembering’.

One post was about our hopes and dreams for 2021.

i only had three real resolutions ( I know myself too well) and can say I accomplshed half. The first was to avoid the ’bug’. Done.

The second was to meet two new great grands. We managed to meet one,

The third goal was to declutter and reorganize the sewing area! Well, we know how that goes.

For 2022, I think I will just repeat those three and maybe meet that fourth great grand.

How about your goals? The original post is on page 5.

I hadn’t even thought about resolutions until you mentioned it, Theresa! As you all know, I’ve been working on finishing my Mom’s projects since she died in 2016. I’ve decided it’s time to be done with them! I have two tops completed for her other two great-grandsons (the oldest g-gson got one as a wedding gift this past summer), and one top completed to donate. I think there are enough miscellaneous blocks to make one more top, and there are two beautiful floral embroideries that will become a wall hanging for me. So getting these last Mom projects done is my resolution for 2022.

Hahaha I just texted GrammyP saying that my one resolution was to quilt (before 2023) my purple Jamestown Landing that has been a top for well over a year! It has also been on the longarm frame since before retreat in October. :) I have been severely lacking in motivation on this. The 'Quilting' is not my favorite part.

I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions. I guess I know myself too well also. I do occassionally make a promise to myself. Several years ago, I had eight quilt tops that needed quilting. I promised myself that I would never let them pile up like that again. Well, the Asian quilt I just posted was number six. I have the components of two more here with me in Palm Desert, so by the time I get home in April, I may have eight quilts to quilt again. So much for promises. I did have the excuse of back surgery this year which kept me away from my Tiara for several months, but when I could get back to it, I didn't. Oh, well. I know what 2022 has in store for me.

OK Bev, those are nice and all, but who is going to track them? That seems like a job in itself LOL

Love all your goals, Bev. We will come back in a year and check on you.

I had seen that idea of making a list of 22 items for 2022 and did it as well. Love the ones you came up with Bev. My goal setting with quilts differs a bit --- your plan "finish 22 quilts", my plan "completed 3 UFO quilts" so I'm not even beginning from zero. We'll see if I manage. I don't normally complete even one quilt every year and still in the middle of moving which is crazy. I think if COVID would disappear a lot more would get done.

    Happy New Year, everyone!

Resolutions #1 - have more patience. I am trying hard to take a breath and let things go, whether it is with quilting, or people.

I would definitely like to get more quilting done, but will just go with the flow this year.

I know that I "plan" to get some quilts finished, but will be patient and see how things go! :)

I have 8 quilts sandwiched and ready to quilt. If there is one thing I have learned this past year, it's that I really don't enjoy the quilting as much as the creation...I'm with you on that, Jackie. So one of my goals is to quilt that pile. Another is to finish cleaning/reconditioning the portlights on the sailboat( I've done 7 out of 16 already), as well as replacing the 5 hatches that have crazing/weather damage. There are many other projects on the sailboat, but those are my priority. I also want to keep creating tops to work my stash down more. I'm just going to chug along and see what I can get done. Happy New Year Everyone!
