My wife just inherited this bedroom set that we can trace back to approximately 1900 in the family. The family has been in Georgia / Alabama since before the Civil War and have never been wealthy. I cannot figure out how this set made it from New York, New York and eventually to the family. It is still in very good shape. Based on the addresses in the stencil, I believe it was made between 1850 - 1866.

Per Wikipedia "Alexander Roux (1813–1886) was a French-trained ébéniste, or cabinetmaker, who emigrated to the United States in the 1830s. He opened a shop in New York City in 1837. The business grew quickly: by the 1850s he employed 120 craftsmen in his shop and introduced then-new industrial technologies, such as steam-powered saws. Roux specialized in the ornate Rococo Revival style, but practiced many others. His work is highly sought by collectors, with larger and more complex pieces fetching large sums. One of his sideboards was featured in a 2000 exhibit at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

I hoping the experts on this board can help me identify the style of this set and what type of wood it is.. I know it is considered Victorian due to the time it was constructed but am curios as to the design style.

It has very clean lines compared to many of his pieces. I especially like how all of the dresser drawers can be locked on the right hand side with a single lock.
