I suggest a lighter more modern rug and possibly 2 chandeliers in more modern style with brass nod to traditional furniture. I tried clearing off the table top (use your imagination!) and added a modern looking table decor. Or just one more modern chandelier.

none really. this house was designed with virtually no overhead light. recessed lights were added about 10. years ago. here is picture of outside of house and more interior

Before any suggestions are made, please tell us the size of the table, the height of the ceiling, and measure the existing fixture so we get an idea of that volume. Is that a stained glass window or a painting at the end of the room? I think anything too heavy will suck up too much volume in the room and may make it look smaller.

it is a stained glass window. added when the deck that was off that wall was enclosed and made into a sunroom.

ceiling is approx 9 feet. table is 104 i believe. these are the 2 rooms dining and living

this is a twelve light version but there is also a five and nine light version. I used the 5 light in my dining room.

I see your space as a mix between slightly casual to formal depending upon what I am looking at in the room. I would not go with anything to glam but more simple.
