sometimes its just easier to divest and be rid of it.. and buy a duplicate that is already clean ...

this is where you say it was great grandmas plant.. and you cant be without it ...

in that case.. it might be easier to break up the plant ... find the best piece or two.. get rid of the old media.. sterilize the pot ... treat the much smaller pieces.. and move on from there ... often you can have success with treating a smaller piece.. that you cant have with a huge old plant .... probably mostly .. because you get rid of 95% of the problems when you throw out the rest ... imagine only dealing with 5 % of the problem you have now ....

i treat all my plants outside.. in fall ... to avoid using product in the house.. and spreading it to all my houseplants ... i simply dont know what to tell you how to deal with it now ... isolate it for sure ...

You'll get a lot of traction with no more than a solution of 2 parts water to 1 part of 70% rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol (only use unscented). Spritz the plant thoroughly at 4 day intervals making sure to cover ALL surfaces, and spritzing all the little nooks and crannies in which they might be hiding, including leaf undersides and leaf axils.
