Thank you for your interest in our Mesa Contemporary project. The clients were interested in having an aesthetic and durable outdoor shower off their master bathroom. The question became what materials to use to accomplish this goal. Ipe - a highly dense and durable wood, excellent for outdoor applications – was the wood of choice for the walls, floor and doors. The next issue was how to make the two exterior shower doors solid, closeable, and able to withstand an outdoor, beachside environment. The decision was to build steel door frames and cover them with Ipe slats to match the rest of the shower. The hinges are marine grade, stainless steel. I hope this answers your question.
