You can vacuum the wall to clean it, however, what's more important is if the stone veneer relates to the design of your home. Is it contemporary or modern? This is not something you would see in colonial or Georgian style home.

There are other options to break up long hallways.

I think your husband is correct about the dust, and the stone look is not the best choice for your modern condo.

You can try to look for large framed prints for that wall.

Or, find a nice wallpaper you like, and cut large pieces and have them framed.

On the other side over the table I would find a beautiful round mirror in whatever style you like.

Usually people check their appearance when they come in or leave.

You can have a nice tray on the table for mail or whatever.

If the light fixtures in that hallway came with the condo and you are not excited by them, you can switch them for ones that hang just a little bit. Not big fancy chandeliers, but just suspended pendants that are not flat against the ceiling.

Here's a condo in Miami and the way they tackled the expanse of walls.

These are just painted glass panels that you can purchase at IKEA that have been drilled to receive the aluminum 'stand offs' for mounting on the drywall. Looks effective to me.

Thank you for your input. I am not a fan of Ikea art. Have been looking to find three similar stylized pictures for quite a while and haven't found anything so far. So saw that picture and thought it would solve the problem.

A modern runner to liven up the hallway. I would look at doing something different to the blank wall side with either wall paper or modern trim work.

We have a stone veneer wall behind our TV in our living room and haven’t had an issue with dust.

Seems to me that for the price of putting stone veneer on that wall, you could find an artist whose style you like and commission the art you seek for the wall. I'm sure you can get inspired by that "little" art show held in Miami each year. Lots of great galleries in Miami can provide direction. 😊

I also have a large stone veneer fireplace wall, going on 4 years now and I’ve never once dusted or thought to dust it lol. I just checked and nope, no dust or dirt. My house is more “transitional modern” (my term haha) but it would work in a modern house, it all depends on the type/size of stone. I’m also in south Florida, FYI, and purchased my stone at MSI in Ft. Lauderdale.

I should also note the stone is sealed.

@K R Thank you very much. Some people here are talking me out of it. I love the look. Maybe it's a mistake but in my opinion everyone has their own taste in design. I just need other people who have experience with it to tell me how it ages. I think as an alternative I will look for a textured wallpaper which also look very nice. I have not looked into the cost of the project yet. We are at the discussion point of the project. First I had to find out an answer to the question about the dust before I look into the cost of it. Your stone looks smoother though...I don't know if it would make a difference.

The art posted is not from IKEA, it's the white glass panels that COULD be sourced from IKEA.

No matter what you select, the lighting in the hallway will need an upgrade to render your selection in the best possible light.

There are large scale murals that can be adapted to the halway or light weight 3D panels designs that can be applied to the wall in place of the stone.

I personally love stone and I think it would look awesome. So different! It is not any more of a dust collector than anything else on walls.

Ooh yeah, I'd go for architectural panels over stone. Much more modern. And they're lighter and easier to install.

I don't know about dust as it's on the wall. I can just assure you that you will see all kinds of dust if you ever want to take it down. That stuff does not generally come down easily and you'll be looking at a whole lot of drywall repair/replacement.

I presume you would hire someone to do both the install and any potential demo later on down the road - just wanted to mention that it's a PITA to take down. Lots of dust and debris, and that's not counting any drywall dust if you have to put new sheets back up.

Stone on one wall, may make your hallway look awkward and narrow. I personally do not like the inspiration picture you posted. A nice wallpaper would look so much nicer.
