Floor plan advice. Roast my layout, Sweet Home 3D

Any advice or comments are welcome. Please let me know what you think. I am gutted right now and finalizing the layout. If you have Sweet Home 3D or you can use the online version. Thake a look and give me some feedback. The 5 posts are structural so can not move. I really want a butlers pantry. the two patio doors access a large patio and I do not want to restrict the traffic flow from either doorway. The 8x8 entrance is sunken. So IMO 3 Ds are horrible for getting any info as to meaurements of a space . If you want help here do a to scale floor plan on graph paer show every window doorway and where the doorways lead every meaurement clearly marked BTW a butlers pantry is exactly that a space beween the kitchen and the DR to allow the butler to stack dirty plates , make coffee or mix a drink and also serve from the kitchen .BTW the type of link you posted is just a PITA to use .

Your title of "roast my plan" will attract a stampede, which will be quickly turned away by an outside link and restriction to the software you are using.

Provide a floorplan within this thread at minimum for starter advice.

A roast you say? Sounds fun but remember you asked for it.

The last time I saw something like that is when I checked into a one star motel.

To help your plan I'd first need to get drunk to understand it.

After 10 thousands years of building evolution and you want to use plans from year one?

I'm won't say it's dated, so I'll use vintage to be nice.

Well I must go and really don't have the time or crayons to draw up plans for you. Good day.

Thank you all for the feedback on the post. I understand the hesitancy to click outside links. I thought of doing a walkthrough video on you tube from the software. It is quite good compared to the advertising retiled proprietary stuff that is unsupported. I am very impressed with the usability and support for completely free software with no advertising and no commitment or time limit. So there is that.

As a DIY I am not interested in fancy textures that are for selling decorating ideas. I need to know the layout and I am not interested in Decorators posing as Designers. I need to make the layout as functional as possible. Unfortunately I can't afford what a proper Designer would do for me so here I am. Publicly asking for thoughts and ideas.

The space is 21' wide and 55'6" long - the 4'x7' porch.

There is a dearth of information here between the drawings and your verbage, and I am not green by any means. I've already spent too much time just trying to figure it out. Hint: even the best architect cannot be successful if s/he cannot convey ideas and information through a drawing.

Where's the main entrance with the "sunken 8x8" foyer? In the pic what's the door next to stairs? Is the "4x7 porch" (I gather by the little french doors) the main entry? So the "patio with 2 doors" is by your living room (drawn as windows), not the other 2 doors on the dining end?

But, your Powder Room doesn't work, certainly with an out-of-scale toilet drawn. It looks like an 'L' office desk next to the stair, but not sure. It looks like a half wall along the whole 5 column line, which makes your Kitchen inaccessible without going the long way around either side. There looks to be a bar counter behind the couch, and a lot of wasted space behind that area. I'm not sure splitting this plan by a Kitchen is the best way to go, but it depends on what the heJJ is going on with the questions I asked. And surely a Butler's Pantry is not important enough to revolve a whole plan around.

@3onthetree you are a wealth of information and I am grateful for your kind words. It must a joy just being near you. If you cant visualize the space from the photo and the admittedly conceptual rendering please don't stress any longer :) Some things turn green and then worse like the old lunch meat in my refrigerator ;) The toilet size is such a petty critique but thank you for asking for clarification. It will help others understand :)

The main entrance is the double doors with the small closet. The door next to the stairs in the picture was a broom closet that is being removed. There will be a wet bar there not an L desk LOL but I see what you see. The powder room is plenty big and works just fine now so I am not worried about that. It is 3'x7'. There is a half wall separating the entrance from the dining room (the other double doors, sorry, they don't exist, there is actually a bay window there) the half wall only extends 6 feet. The build out connecting the columns is to represent fake beams to separate the spaces and allow for mechanical and such. And I really think the butlers pantry fits the design well. The butlers pantry will keep clutter, dirty dishes and noisy appliances out of the wide open space. Its not the central feature.

    Cheers
