It is finally coming together. Had to pick a different floor. Could not find extra tile we thought we had in garage. I'm hoping it all comes together. Over budget. Just means it will be longer before we tackle the master bathroom.

It will be beautiful. And you already know (now) what choices of tile will go with the existing floors in the master bathroom.

We are going to use the accent tile as the transition in the doorway between the hall tile and the bath tile. Hope it works. Now to pick a grout color.

Aw, you're still into this. Great. I would like to put a good bug in your ear about Habitat for Humanity's RE-STORES being able to save you loads of money on new and used construction items (cabinets, doors, windows, flooring, siding, appliances, etc...) for sale at rock bottom prices. Just google it and find your local ReStore. My friends went there to get things to finish their kitchen. Low and behold they found an island top that was only an inch shy for $20. She said they would have paid closer to a grand at a store when new, but it looked new and very durable. She still loves it.

Your blog is very inspiring. I can hardly wait for you to finish this job so I can see it. But, I know you're probably feeling it too at 3 months. *cheersUon*

Not sure about the Master Bath. It will be a walk in shower and we are thinking about doing a wet room. But I think we have some time to work it out. He liked this tile so maybe he will want to keep it the same but do something different on the walls. He wanted to do travertine in the Master but we blew the budget on this one so we will see what happens. I know we probably won't be able to do it for a while and I'm exhausted making decisions. I still have to find a pencil tile to finish the edges.

I looked up the Habitat store the nearest is about an hour away. And I have a hard time getting hubby to go to the big box store and it is less than 15 min. I may call them when we are done as we found some things in the garage when we were looking for the tile.

How's the project coming along?

Thank you for asking. We were out of town for Thanksgiving so not much progress. Floor will be laid Monday. And I had to pick a paint color for walls that are not getting tile. I think I'm going lighter than the one I posted. I woke up and decided to do BM Cocoa Butter since it is lighter and it is such a small bathroom. I'll post more pics tonight when I get off work. The tub is in and wall are up. He assured me it would be done by next Monday as son will be home from college for two weeks and we need that bathroom to make everyone happy.

Painting today. Can't wait to get home and post a pic. My contractor liked the Chocolate Mousse instead of the Cocoa Butter. He assurred me it was perfect and I would love it. I'm hoping he makes some real progress this week. Since our other son comes home next Monday and we need that bathroom ready for his visit and Christmas.

Coming along --but will not be complete by next week. Issue with tile and other delays. Some of the dilemmas are does the sink work with the vanity? What color grout? What trim pieces to use? Did I select the right fixtures? And on and on....

Vanity has to be modified to fit sink. Mirror frame is too big and so is mirror have to cut it down.

Must be one of the biggest improvements on Houzz.

I ordered almost everything on line. So seeing it come together is wonderful. Just a few minor issues. Like ordering the toilet 3 times to get one that wasn't broken.

We will have a finish piece on top. We think we have one that will work. Sorry I was just excited to post the accent. Sometimes it just seems slow in the progress.

Don't be sorry! Things have to be installed in order -- you can't cap something that isn't installed, yet. Also, if you're doing it yourself, then things sometimes just take time. So long as you have a working bathroom, then you're in great shape. I can't believe the transformation - it's really a huge difference for this bathroom. Today I cut the bottoms off long drapes that I've been MEANING to hang in the master bathroom since I got them 2 YEARS ago (and construction was finished in late 2008). I mounted the drapery hardware this summer. :-)

We have a contractor. He is our neighbor but he has a full time job as a fireman and does his contractor work on the side. Problem is everyone has come down with the flu and he was called in to the fire house when he was suppose to be working on it. Since we have 2 other bathrooms it isn't critical so we are just letting him work it as he can. Love your bathroom and envious of your window. If we were working on it we would still be at the demo stage. It was suppose to be done by Dec 16 when my oldest son came home for Christmas break. Now hoping mid Jan.

Thank you for the compliment - I will always kind of curse myself for ordering the third bank of drawers - I love the storage, but it puts the window off-center. I am using the drapes as a cheat to MAKE the window look centered. :-)

The bathroom was added by the first owners of the house -- but it was structurally unsound The remodel on this bathroom was a REAL effort - new footings in the basement to provide an adequate foundation to carry the load of the first and second floors, framing on the footing to transfer the load of the first and second floors to the new footings. Steel columns then added on the second floor in line with the footings and foundation walls to carry a large laminated beam sized to pick up the bathroom roof structure & any snow loads it carries.

The bathroom HAD to be re-plumbed because the plumber ran the water supply lines through the last floor joist bay (next to the unheated garage) without insulation, and because the bathroom walls were framed on the floor joists instead of on top of the top plate of the first floor walls, there was a gap that allowed air infiltration into that cavity, virtually guaranteeing pipe-freezes. It was basically a plumbing flood waiting to happen. I'd like to smack those people around a bit. I removed the jacuzzi in favor of a giant shower stall -- I don't regret that.

We have had some issues with "what were they thinking" too. My Mother in law owned it before we purchased the house 15 years ago and she did some 'bubba contracting' we think she paid them in 6packs before the work was completed. It was a repo and in bad shape when she bought it. I figure by the time I get it fixed the way that I want we will be selling it and the next person will be saying "what were they thinking".

Tile and finish piece. Can't wait to see it tonight all the tile is in. Wednesday grout.

Cabinet, lights, shower curtain rod and mirror left. Anyone have an opinion on it so far?

The wall cabinet had to go back to be finished on the bottom. I will post before and after when it is complete. Could not have done it without my contractor and his wife. And all the help I had on Houzz with my numerous questions.

I cannot believe this is the same room. This transition was so very much fun to follow. Very nice.

Of course now we need to paint the rest of the house...because this room looks awesome.

Beautifully done. I love the sink area the best imo. Have you thought about shelves over the commode for bath towels and a decorative vessel to hold your rings while you bathe?

The cabinet was sent back to put a finish on the bottom. For some reason they didn't finish the bottom. I probably should have done open shelving but have already paid for the cabinet. Will post more pics when completely done.

Caulk and then some trim pieces left but the cabinet is up finally.

Sorry still waiting on the Toilet paper holder too. Doing a built in on the side of the vanity due to limited space.
